Runaway public spending combined with excessively loose monetary policy by the Federal Reserve and other global central banks will push gold to $5,000 per ounce within the next two years, noted investor Peter Schiff said Thursday.
Schiff attributed the expected rise to runaway public spending and loose monetary policy by the Federal Reserve and other central banks. He argued that the Fed's bond-buying would eventually lead to hyperinflation and a sharply devalued dollar, leaving people little choice but to hold gold. He also said he expected a monetary and dollar crisis in the U.S.
