I have reason to believe that bitcoin will reach $250K in 18 months … eventually I expect the number to be higher as bitcoin rises and the dollar falls to inflationary pressures.

Draper linked the target to inflationary pressures and a falling dollar, saying he expects bitcoin to rise as the dollar weakens. In the same post he recounted early setbacks, including a delayed mining arrangement and losses in the Mt. Gox collapse, and said bitcoin's price stability afterwards led him to research its uses in remittances and payments for unbanked workers.
